Buddy tonight made 6 years ago that you Graduated from High School. You were suppose to have your whole life ahead of you. Never for a minute did we think it would only be a year and a half. Oh how I wish it could have been so much longer.

Happy Birthday B.J. I love you so much. I'm so thankful that I was blessed with you. You will always be my Best Buddy in the Whole Wide World. I wanted to tell you what all we did for your birthday today even though my heart tells me you already know.

Right before we left to go to the Bend Sis. Mullins had flowers delivered to us in memory of you and with them was this little "Butter" boy. It's a little guy that is used to put a stick of butter in to butter your corn on the cob. It was great! Not only did I call you Butter but you loved to eat butter didn't you? I can't even begin to say how many times you would just eat mouthfuls of butter. Yuck! So that little Butter boy was perfect. :)
As we were driving out to the river I couldn't help but find peace in the beauty of the outdoors and realized more than ever why you loved going camping out there. When we first got there Sarah found an I love you penny and then later found another one. She was sorry (Mama) didn't find one but I was glad she did because it's been hard for her lately and I think she must have needed that sign from you more than I did. Johnathan got to fish where you use to fish and even used used your little fishing pole. We enjoyed just seeing the beauty of the mountains and talking about the times you would climb them and scare me so bad. I was always so over pertective of you wasn't I Buddy? But... I made myself allow you to do the things that boys your age loved even though it about made me a nervous wreck. :) While we were there a gentle rain began to fall for just a little while and we knew you were there giving us our "Melodies from Heaven". After we ate we went down to the river and Sarah tossed the Dr Pepper bottle in and we watched it float away until it was out of site. My heart tells me you got our message. We spent much time just talking about the memories we have of times spent out there with you Buddy. When we were coming home late this evening just about the time we got back to town it began to sprinkle again and we knew you were letting us know you came back home with us. :) It was only enough for us to notice and then it stopped. So many times that happens and we always know it is a sign from you. Just as we were getting out of the pick up (looking like something the dog drug home) this vehicle drives up and this lady says...would you feel like having company for just a minute? I turned around and nearly fell over...it was our wonderful friend Marguerite Ward...Brandy's Mom. What a wonderful surprise! We had such a nice visit although it was much too short. She was down visiting family and stopped by to see us. I bet you and her Brandi had something to do with her showing up for your birthday huh?

Then we came in and Mama made your chocolate pudding pie and we all ate some for you. I'll always make it for you Buddy and hope that you somehow know I did.

Then I came in to the computer to tell you good night and Dianne had left a beautiful tribute for me here. I'm going to put a copy of it here for you ok.

So another birthday has came with you not here and we miss you more than ever Buddy. Know we love you and keep watching for us cause I promise we will be there just as soon as Jesus will let us.

Oh B.J. what we would give if we could only be with you on your birthday. You always remember how much we love you and know we will miss you more and more until we're all together again.

i miss the times we spent staying up late talking about what we would do the next day, whispering so that we wouldnt wake up mama and daddy.

i love you with all my heart and i always will no matter where i go or what i do.

i miss riding around with you in your car and just listining to kirk franklin with your sterio booming.

i wish you could be here to meet Sean and tell him all the things your supposed to tell guys just because your my brother.

i miss putting up with you getting on my nerves and me hollering at you because thats what sisters do

i wish i could hear you laugh one more time at something silly like the time mom was making you wear plastic glasses.

i miss those times that mom made us hug when we would get in fights and we would just stand there with our arms around each other gritting our teeth.

i miss going to the beach with you and riding bikes along the shore with friends.

i miss those years that we shared a room together and scattered blocks all over the floor.

i miss the times when we lived at the apartments and we would open your window and let the dogs jump up into your room.

i miss going on camping trips with you and watching you go hiking up that "mountain"

that's what it all really comes down to...

Dad tried so hard to give you a second chance at life B.J. You know just how much he loves you don't you? He would have given his very life to let you stay here with us. I know you're healthy in Heaven Buddy but we just miss you so much. I can't wait until we get to join you there.

You loved your little Farm House didn't you Buddy? I wish we still had it but I remember you decided to finally get rid of it a few years before you left us. I still have the horse that went with it. I won't ever get rid of it.

hey buddy its October and it's starting to get to me really bad...you remember way back when...

Me, You, Pancho, Serena, and Stephanie would go toilet papering? We had so much fun back then. We would pack the back end of your Glitter Bug with so much TP that you almost couldn't see back there while you were driving. You always carried around mini butterfingers in a bag in the back seat just in case we needed a refueling while out doing our dirty work and having a great time! And not to mention all those Dr. Peppers that we went through! I sure do miss all those times! And now here it is again when everyone goes out and has all the fun that we used to have and you're not here to do it this year for the 3rd year in a row :( I'm sad and I miss spending all that time with you, even if other people were around. I love you buddy!

                     The Broken Chain

For part of us went with you (B.J.) the day God called you home.
